Manuscript preparation

Author Guidelines

Practical requirements derived from the current Enigma in Education templates.

Accepted manuscript types

  • Original Article: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion.
  • Case Report / Case Study: a clearly bounded educational case, chronological account, ethical safeguards and a defensible learning contribution; follow CARE where applicable.
  • Systematic Review / Meta-analysis: a registered or prespecified protocol, reproducible searches, independent screening, risk-of-bias assessment, transparent synthesis and PRISMA 2020/PRISMA-S reporting.

General preparation

Write in clear academic English using the supplied two-column Cambria template. Provide a concise title, author names in publication order, complete department/institution/city/country affiliations, ORCID identifiers, and corresponding-author email. The abstract should concisely state background, objective, methods, results and conclusion, followed by 3–5 keywords.

Methods and reporting

Describe design, setting, study period, eligibility, sampling or search strategy, variables, instruments, reliability/validity, procedures and analysis sufficiently for appraisal and replication. Report software and version, missing-data handling, effect estimates, confidence intervals and exact p values where relevant. Identify and follow an appropriate reporting guideline.

Tables and figures

Number tables and figures in citation order. Tables must remain editable; figures should be publication quality (normally at least 300 dpi) with self-contained captions, defined abbreviations and appropriate permissions. Do not repeat the same results in text, tables and figures.

References

Use Vancouver style, numbered by first citation. List the first three authors family-name-first with initials, followed by “et al.” when applicable. Use standard journal abbreviations and include DOI links where available. The evidence base should be relevant, current and adequate for the article type.
